Cooldown Reduction (abbreviated as CDR) is a champion statistic that reduces the cooldown of champion abilities, or the amount of time before an ability can be used again after activation, by a percentage. There are some items that separately reduce the cooldown for summoner spells or item active abilities, but do not grant cooldown reduction.
Cooldown reduction can be granted by items, buffs, and runes. CDR stacks additively and is capped at 40%, which can be increased to 45% with the Cosmic Insight rune.
Cooldown reduction is determined at the moment an ability is activated. Increasing/decreasing cooldown reduction while the skill is on cooldown will not affect the cooldown.
Cooldown reduction does not apply to:
- Static cooldowns.
- Item active abilities (e.g. Locket of the Iron Solari).
- Item passive effects with cooldowns (e.g. Guardian Angel).
- Runes.
- Summoner spells.

Champion abilities
Some champions have abilities that decrease their cooldowns by a flat amount, either their base cooldown or current cooldown, or entirely refresh their cooldown. Base reduction occurs before cooldown reduction takes effect while flat reduction occurs after cooldown reduction takes effect. By using those, a champion can circumvent the 40% cooldown reduction cap.

Is it just me, or did the price of Cooldown Reduction just go down?
- CDR has never been at a static price per %. The thing about CDR is that it's priced differently for different roles. Very few APs are go...
- Nothing's changed at all. There's only four items in the game that provide CDR and don't have any other non-measurable factors...
Each champion starts with a certain base attack speed. Additional bonus attack speed can be obtained through level-up or with a variety of items, abilities and runes. Some champions can even start with bonus attack speed at level 1, however it does not count as bonus attack speed. Bonus attack speedstacks additively, and each bonus point acquired directly affects its statistic. Bonus attack speed is a percentage of the base attack speed, therefore, champions with higher base attack speed benefit more from bonus attack speed.
Attack speed is capped at 2.5 attacks per second(or 1 attack every 0.4 seconds), but it can be removed with certain effects.

- Attack speed has a gold value of 25 per point.
Calculations
Bonus attack speed per level
Champions gain an attack speed percentage every time they level up, which ranges from roughly 0 - 6% (the exact number depending on the specific champion) and can be calculated through the statistics growth formula.
Bonus AS% stacks additively.
- Example: Stinger grants +35% attack speed and Nashor's Tooth grants +50% attack speed, so the champion gains +85% in total.

- Final attack speed cannot go above the cap of 2.5 attacks per second.
- Many in-game tooltip percentages (such as runes) have been rounded, so results may be slightly different unless the precise numbers are known.

- Twisted Fate's base attack speed is 0.651.
- Calculating 'bonus attack speed':
- Every time Twisted Fate levels up, he gains bonus AS% based on his percentage growth 3.22% and his level through the statistics growth formula.
- At level 10 he has gained $ pagecolor{Black}color{White}3.22%times(10-1)times(0.7025+0.0175times(10-1))=24.9228% $ as bonus AS%.
- Let's say he has maxed Stacked Deck increasing his attack speed by 30%.
- He also has the Legend: Alacrity rune to 3%.
- And he has Stinger: +35%.
- All together he has: 24.9228% + 30% + 3% + 35% = 92.9228% bonus AS% or 0.929228 bonus AS as a decimal.
